What is Teller Family?
Teller Family turns your photos into AI-generated illustrations and stories. You choose photos, name your characters, pick a genre, and get a personalized story you can save, read, and share anytime.
What kind of photos work best?
Clear, well-lit photos with faces visible usually produce the most charming illustrations. You can add a short description in the app to help set the scene. At this time, photos featuring famous characters (like your trip to Disneyland with Mickey Mouse) might not get fully illustrated, due to the AI's restrictions on reproducing copyrighted characters.
How long does it take to generate a story?
Most stories are ready in under a minute, depending on your internet connection. You can leave the app and come back when it's finished.
How long are the stories?
Stories range from 500–700 words, which is about a 2–3 minute read.
Are the stories enjoyable?
We think so. What we can guarantee is that they're not generic AI stories. We've invested significant effort into the reading levels, genre-specific writing styles, and careful prompting to produce stories that feel authored, not auto-generated. That quality is heightened by the illustrations and the optional note you can add to personalize the story further.
What reading levels are available?
From very simple "tiny tales" for the littlest listeners to more involved stories for growing readers, you can pick a level that fits your child.
Can I share stories with family?
Yes. You can share a link with grandparents, aunts, uncles — anyone who wants to read along. Stories are viewable on the web exactly as they appear in the app. No account is needed to read a shared story.
Privacy & Your Photos
What happens to my photos when I upload them?
The short version: Your photos are transformed into illustrations by one AI, then removed from our service. Those illustrations are sent to a second AI to write your story. Your original photos are never permanently stored.
The details: Your photos are sent securely to our server, where they're held only long enough for Google's Nano Banana to generate illustrated versions in a children's book style matched to your selected genre. Once the illustrations are created, your original photos are removed from our service — we never store them longer than necessary. The illustrations are then sent to Anthropic's Claude, which uses them along with your character names, note, and genre to write the story. Only the illustrations, story text, character names, genre, and note are saved to our secure server so your story is accessible on your My Stories page and can be shared. Your original photos are never shared with third parties and never used for any purpose other than generating your illustrations. We do not use your images to train AI models or for advertising. Does Teller Family access my entire camera roll?
No. Teller Family only accesses the specific photos you select for a story.
Is my data private?
Yes. Privacy is a priority, not an afterthought. Your photos are used solely to generate illustrations and are never stored. See our Privacy Policy for full details on how we handle data and retention.

Which AI services do you use?
We deliberately chose the AI services we believe offer the highest quality and the most responsible approach to user data. We use Google's Nano Banana for illustration generation and Anthropic's Claude for story writing.
Account
Do I need an account to use Teller Family?
You can try your first story without an account. To save stories and access them across your devices, you'll need a free account. After 3 saved stories, you'll be asked to subscribe to help cover the cost of the AI services that power the app.
Account creation and sign-in happen inside the Teller Family iOS app — you can sign up with email, Sign in with Apple, or Sign in with Google. There is no sign-in on this website.
How much does it cost?
Teller Family offers the first 3 stories free so you can try it out, then unlimited stories for just $2.99/month. Subscriptions auto-renew monthly until cancelled and are billed through your Apple ID.
How do I cancel my subscription?
You can cancel anytime in your device's Settings → your Apple ID → Subscriptions. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period.
Can I delete my stories or my account?
Yes. You can remove individual stories from the app at any time. You can also delete your entire account, which permanently removes your account, saved stories, and all associated data. See our Privacy Policy for details on how we handle data removal.
